My Birthday

June 17 was my 20th birthday! Anthany made it such a special day. It was hard having my first birthday away from all my friends and all my family but it was my first time celebrating my birthday with Anthany so it was really special. Right at midnight when it was officially my birthday, Anthany walked into the room and surprised me with a sweet card and an iTunes giftcard! I was really not expecting it cause Anthany is not good at keeping secrets. So we started out the day with Anthany making me a huge breakfast and he didn't even make me clean it up :] Then we both got ready to go to the mall. I had birthday money to spend so we walked around for three hours looking at clothes and shoes. I ended up coming home with one necklace haha I think Anthany was a little annoyed but I think he is lucky I'm so cautious about spending money!

When we got home, we played some Disney Universe [a Wii game we have been playing that's pretty fun but impossible to beat], we swam in our pool then we decided to go out to dinner. we went to TGI Fridays which is my absolute favorite! It was super yummy. Anthany surprised me again by telling me he had to go to the bathroom but really telling the waitress it was my birthday and to come sing to me. I've never been sung to before at a restaurant [at least that I can remember] so that was cool :]

Love him :]

My very own free ice cream they brought me :]
Back at home, Anthany decided to make me a cake. And he was a pro! We had a Funfetti cake with frosting and sprinkles and pink candles. Even though it was his project, he let me put the sprinkles on :] It was SO yummy! But it was kinda bad we had that entire cake just for the two of us... it definitely took some self control to not pig out on the whole thing haha

YUMMM

About this picture... after the cake was all done we realized we had no matches! So Anthany used the stove to set that paper towel on fire and then light one of the candles to light all the other ones!
Makin a wish!
Anthany had a "fun idea" after we had eaten some cake. He said we should start a tradition where the birthday person gets blindfolded and has to eat a little piece of cake blindfolded, without a fork. I thought it was stupid and refused to do it till he made me feel like I was being a baby and I finally agreed. So here you can witness me being an idiot and falling for his trick. Luckily the towel over my eyes was huge and protected most of my face :]
\

He was pretty proud of himself :]
So that was my birthday! I ended up using my birthday money to buy all the stuff I need to do Gel polish [also known as Shellac] nails on myself! I figured it was a good investment cause now I don't have to pay someone else to do it and maybe eventually I can start doing them on other people and making some money! I've absolutely loved it so far.
We took this picture the other day.... I absolutely love Anthany's face in it haha Anthany put his blue Hollister shirt on first, so I wore mine too :] he hates when I do that but I think it is so funny when I make us match. People always comment on it haha
Lately, we are both so busy working. I'm still at Boise Hair Company.. I have days where I'm super busy and days where it's so slow I want to go crazy. I'm starting to get to know the girls better but the twenty minute drive every day in Boise traffic is the worst. Anthany started working at Enterprise Car Rental. He loves it and says it's the easiest job in the world. All of his coworkers are impressed with how awesome he is at cleaning and detailing the cars. I think his favorite part is driving the super nice cars around. We love our new ward! It's Boise State's married student ward. It's not very big but the people are really nice and cool. Plus there is a big ward campout the end of July! We are already working on buying supplies for it a little at a time so we can go :] It's my day off today and I have my fingers crossed it will be hot enough that I can spend the day in our pool :]

P.S. Since it is "The McCabes" blog I've been trying to convince Anthany that he should do a post about what he is up to and how he is doing and he said "Nah." So we will see what happens with that.

Jogging Leads to Disaster...

Tonight.. Anthany and I decided it was a perfect night for a jog. We were nervous about leaving our apartment unlocked, but neither of us wanted to carry the keys. So we came up with a foolproof plan, we unlocked the little storage closet outside our apartment and left the keys in there with the apartment door locked. We then went for a nice 30 minute run around Boise. It was so awesome to jog five minutes and we were to the beautiful Greenbelt and could run there. When we got back to the apartment, we were both exhausted. Anthany turned the doorknob to the storage closet and told me it was locked. I didn't believe him, he pulls that joke all the time. Unfortunately, he was being serious. So we were locked out of our apartment with no cell phones, no money, and nobody around that we knew. But that's pretty obvious we were gonna get locked out right? I'm no good at setting up a story. Anyways, we went to Anthany's truck looking desperately for something to get us into the apartment. We even tried one of the bobby pins from my hair. Calling the maintenance guy to come unlock our apartment would cost $50! Anthany decided all he needed was a credit card and he could get the storage closet unlocked, which of course we didn't have. Luckily, Anthany had another moment of genius. We walked to Maverick and asked for a Maverick card then walked back to our apartment and it unlocked the storage closet! We were both so relieved. You could definitely say we will both be loyal Maverick customers for the rest of our lives and we will definitely be bringing our keys with us every time we run after this! I plan on blogging about my birthday later in the week... I'm exhausted. But I just had to share our moment of stupidity... with a little bit of genius too!

P.S. Now that you all know how to break into our storage closet... just make sure you say hi to us too when you come to do it.. cause we are really missing our friends! And I hope you enjoy our tiny red cooler... cause that's all that we have in there :]

Our First [Own] Place!

I should really just name this post "Dear Mom" cause I'm mostly doing it so my mama can see our apartment since she hasn't gotten to yet. But anybody else can see it too. I know Veronica has been waiting to see it all set up. I should also say that the only reason these pictures were possible was because my sweet husband surprised me when I came home from work with a super clean, organized apartment. Yeah I"m pretty lucky :]
So I will begin by telling you five interesting facts about the apartment:
1. The Scentsy wax I chose is green apple scented so our apartment always smells like apples. Mmmm. Maybe that's why I'm always hungry.
2. We have four little obnoxious kids as our neighbors. One day I sat and watched out my window while the big brother beat up his little sister with boxing gloves :[
3. We have a pool right outside that is never busy and awesome for hot days
4. Neither of us is tall enough to reach the A.C. so we either have to keep jumping up and try to twist the thing to turn it on [which I'm sure the people downstairs just love] or I have to hop on Anthany's back to be tall enough to turn it on. I'm considering investing in a step stool.
5. We actually have a spare bedroom too that you will not see in the pictures cause it's pretty much just being used as a storage room for all of our extra crap. So when we do something cute with it, you will get to see it :]
So here are the pictures! It was actually really hard to get good pictures of all the rooms and somehow they all look really small. So just use your imagination a little :]
This is the view from our front porch. And that's the pool. I love how pretty the landscaping is here.
Getting a picture of the bedroom was really awkward and hard
Ignore the dirty clothes hamper :]

Dining Room

I absolutely love this picture frame and the pictures we carefully selected to go in it. Anthany
loves to hang his keys from it.

This is on the wall in our kitchen. Our groomsmen and bridesmaids :]

Our kitchen. Again.. really awkward to get a picture of haha

This is where we spend most of our time. [We love our entertainment center!
We got it for a steal of $60]

This is a good picture cause it shows our CUTE family wall, The awesome little open wall
with the kitchen, and it shows kinda how the whole place is set up.]

So our bathroom has two parts... the sink part and the shower and toilet part which has been really convenient.
Love our shower curtain. We got an awesome deal on this too :]

So notice the towels at the top of the picture... We bought our bathroom set [the rugs, shower curtain, and toilet cover] and got home and found those towels among our wedding gifts. It's insane how perfect they match!
We have this hanging by our door... I can't help but smile every time I leave my house :]
So there ya go :] Not the most exciting blog post in the world but we absolutely love our apartment! It's great having a place of our own. It's my birthday tomorrow so Anthany has made this a "Lindsay chooses" weekend where we do anything I want. Like last night we bought a Scene It X Box game for four bucks that we have been playing for hours. So I better go take advantage of getting to do what I want :] For my birthday dinner we are going to TGI Fridays which is my absolute favorite restaurant that I was devastated when they closed down in Idaho Falls but SO excited when I found out they have one here! I can't wait! Everyone have a great weekend!

Big Changes

A few weeks ago I didn't feel like blogging cause I really had nothing interesting to blog about... now I feel overwhelmed by everything going on that I should blog about but don't want to take the time to do haha.

First I will talk about the Bolder Boulder cause it was truly an incredible experience. And I have some pictures :] So for those of you that don't know, the Bolder Boulder is a huge memorial day race that takes place in Colorado. It's a six mile race and the whole thing is like a giant party. They have bands, slip and slides, belly dancers, hula hoops, water guns, even snacks at the finish line. I've done the race with my family several years before, but this year was different. Me, my cousin Anna, and my little sister Kenna decided we wanted to dress up all out and pretty much walk the entire race [don't judge.. at least 50% of the people there walk!] Because when you run the race, you don't get to truly see and do everything that's going on. Anyway, we'll say I decided to walk so I could take in the whole experience and just have fun..  not because I'm terribly out of shape :]
The night we made our tutus. It turned out to be way more work than we expected!
All of my family that participated in the Bolder Boulder. [P.S. my mom is a BEAST. She ran six miles in 47 minutes.]
We had people stopping us the entire race to take pictures with us.
So yeah it was completely silly. But we had so much fun. We felt like celebrities all day. People kept taking our pictures and everyone would cheer "GO TUTU GIRLS" when we ran/walked by. We even got to dance with some Chick-Fil-A mascots dressed up in cow suits. So while it was fun just playing this year, I'm definitely going to train next year and attempt to keep up with my insanely talented mom! Thanks for being so much fun Kenna and Anna!!

So Anthany and I are packed up and moved to Boise. I would post pictures,,, but we are still working on getting moved in and I'm embarrassed by how unorganized everything is. We love our apartment so far! Having a pool has been really fun and we definitely have plenty of space. We are learning to bargain shop for furniture to fill it up. Our goals are always 1. Cheap 2. Looks like it wasn't cheap. Definitely a tricky combination. That's probably why our apartment is still kind of bare. We have found a sweet entertainment center and floor lamp though! [Our living room doesn't have a light in it.. super weird]. But things have really been great so far.. except for a couple nights ago. We were cooking a frozen pizza and it had only been in the oven maybe ten minutes when we hear this really high pitched screeching coming from the kitchen. We both ran in there completely freaked out and we opened the oven. So much smoke came out. In my head I'm thinking, We haven't even been here a week and we have burnt the place down!!! Turns out the heating element part just blew out somehow. On the bright side, we got a brand new oven in our apartment.. On the down side, we aren't totally sure if we have to pay for it or not.

Boise is a really fun place to live, at least from what I can tell so far. We have explored the green belt which ended up being so much more walking then we expected [it's like eight miles around the whole thing!] We walked around downtown a little which I was hoping would be a lot of really cool shops, but is really mostly just bars and coffee shops.. kind of a bummer. And there are horse races here twice a week that we are planning on checking out soon! I also like driving here. It's fun to have no idea where you are even going. Everyone here drives fast and aggressive, and for those of you that know my driving, I fit right in haha.

The last thing I guess is my job. It's going great and I really love it. It's called the Boise Hair Company and it's a salon that's been around for like 30 years. Sometimes it's really busy and I get to do lots of hair, other times it's slow and I get to sweep hair, answer phones, and pretty much do everything the girls tell me to. I'm still waiting for them to give me a key to the building.. then I will know for sure that they actually like me.

That's basically all that has been happening lately with us with a lot more really funny and stressful times added in. We have a redbox literally right across the street from our apartment that we have been avid customers. We also were sort of unlucky and our apartment is directly above the manager of the complex... so I always feel like I have to be so quiet or she is gonna come upstairs and kick us out. That's basically our lives here in Boise! Apartment pictures will come soon :]
